Spinothalamic tract lesions

 

This diagram represents the effects of lesions to the spinothalamic tract at various levels of the cord and brain (indicated by crosses). Loss of sensation on the side of the body opposite to the lesions is indicated by the shaded area on the outline of a person.


EFFECTS OF A UNILATERAL LESION:

 

  • Contralateral loss of pain, temperature and light touch below the level of the lesion.
