The basics

If you haven't studied any neuro-anatomy before, here are a few helpful tips and links to help you get to grips with the basics:

 

Ascending V Descending pathways:

D = Down = Descending = In descending pathways the action potentials / neurons travel down through the body from the brain.

Therefore Up = Ascending = In ascending pathways the action potentials / neurons travel up through the body to the brain.
