The spinal cord is the main route by which sensory information (e.g. nociception, proprioception) from the trunk and limbs travels to the brain and motor information (e.g. commands for muscle movement) from the brain travels to the muscles.
In this exercise we present a realistic case where a patient reports a range of symptoms, including pain, that indicate spinal cord dysfunction. We use the case to explore how sensory information travels to the brain via the spinal cord and also how motor information travels from the brain to the muscles.
