Benign Thyroid Disease
Introduction
‘99m Tc Thyroid’ imaging can contribute to the management of benign thyroid disease by:
- distinguishing between different pathological types of thyrotoxicosis
- by identifying suspicious non functioning nodules in multinodular goitres or in patients with Graves’ disease
- by determining the functionality of thyroid nodules
- by assisting in the diagnosis of thyroglossal duct cysts and ectopic thyroid tissue
