Multinodular Goitre

Multinodular goitre is a common cause of swelling in the thyroid region and is more common in the older aqe group.
It usually presents as a painless swelling in the thyroid region and, on palpation, multiple nodules are usually palpable although occasionally only a dominant nodule may be apparent. The scan will show the typical pattern of heterogeneous uptake. Retrosternal extension may be noted.
