Retinal haemorrhage

By far the commonest presenting ocular feature:

  • Can be unilateral or bilateral
  • Usually at the posterior pole but can extend to the retinal periphery

External Eye Swelling or bruising
Eyelids Lid swelling, bruising or cuts
Eyelashes Infestation with Phthirius pubis
Conjunctiva Haemorrhages
Cornea Scaring or perforation
Iris and Pupil Misshapen pupil
Lens Cataract
Vitreous Haemorrhages
Retina Haemorrhages
Retinal detachment
Optic disc Papilloedema
