2. Non-accidental injury (NAI)
Work-Up
History and examination
- Clearly and accurately record all history from both parent and child
- Document all ophthalmic signs with photography and drawings
- Legal investigation may occur so ensure records are accurate including the date, time and signature.
Management
- Refer immediately to consultant ophthalmologist and consultant paediatrician.
They will undertake further management and contact social services if non-accidental injury is suspected.
