Mr Smith has a urinary catheter inserted. It is quite difficult to get in but after a few minutes it passes in to the bladder and 1.8 litres of urine is drained over 30 minutes.
He is referred to the urology team who admit him for further monitoring and management of his AKI.
Repeat blood results 4 hours later:
- Urea 20.5 mmol/L
- Creatinine 330 µmol/L
- Potassium 5.2 mmol/L
