  • Pulse character is low volume and slow-rising

  • Undisplaced, heaving apex
  • Systolic thrill in the aortic area and carotids
  • Normal first heart sound with harsh systolic crescendo-decrescendo murmur heard across the chest and in the carotids, absent S2
  • No diastolic murmurs
  • Peripheral pulses present
  • No ankle oedema

  • Respiratory rate 28/minute
  • SaO2 94%
  • Trachea central
  • Expansion normal and symmetrical
  • Percussion normal
  • Tactile vocal fremitus normal
  • Scattered fine late inspiratory crackles bilaterally in lower zones

Gastrointestinal System

  • No swelling or tenderness
  • Liver, spleen, kidneys not palpable
  • Hernial orifices normal
  • Bowel sounds normal
  • Rectal and pelvic examination not performed
