MRI clinical applications
- Musculoskeletal MRI
-
The knee showing excellent depiction of fat, muscle, trabecular bone.
- Cortical bone and ligament are not visible to MRI, because the T2s of water protons in these tissues are so short that signal decays away before it can be detected. Nevertheless, they are clearly visible as dark areas on the image (e.g. femur, cruciate ligaments).
