MRI clinical applications
- MR angiography
- MR angiography (MRA) can be performed without the use of contrast agent, using pulse sequences designed to be sensitive to movement of blood.
- Today it is more common to perform contrast-enhanced MRA which improved vessel conspicuity and allows smaller vessels to be imaged.
- However, recent concerns about the safety of some MRI contrast agents, particularly in renally impaired patients, have led to renewed interest in earlier techniques.
