Introduction

Primary open angle glaucoma is:

  • A progressive optic neuropathy, which is associated with optic nerve head damage and visual field loss, typically with raised intraocular pressure (IOP).
  • By far the most common glaucoma, affecting 2% of those >40 years, and 10% >80 years. Untreated, it is a progressive disease.
