Preseptal Cellulitis

An infection of the subcutaneous tissue anterior to the orbital septum

Symptoms

  • Fever
  • Pain
  • Swelling

Signs

  • Ptosis
  • Unilateral tender and red periorbital oedema
  • Ocular motility and visual acuity normal

Management

Refer to Ophthalmology for oral antibiotics and to exclude orbital cellulitis
