Was the patient wearing safety goggles? Advise for future use.

Investigation

  • Slit lamp examination using fluorescein, noting location, size and depth of abrasion. If a slit lamp is not available use an ophthalmoscope with a +ve lens to provide a magnified view of the cornea.
  • Lid inversion to ensure no foreign body trapped under the lid.
  • Ensure no bacterial keratitis , especially in a contact lens wearer.
