Unit 2: Visual field defects, double vision & optic disc swelling

  • Usually cause bitemporal superior quadrantanopia.
  • The defects are usually relative and respect the vertical midline but not the horizontal midline.
  • It is often asymmetric and eventually produces optic neuropathy.
  • As the tumour enlarges it compressors more fibres and the visual field defect gets bigger.
