The optic nerve carries retinal stimuli to the brain.
The optic nerve head can be viewed with an ophthalmoscope
Optic nerve function is assessed by measuring:
- Visual Acuity
- Visual Fields
- Colour vision
- Pupil reactions
A defect in these may suggest optic nerve disease.
