General Management

Screening

Patients who are not attending an eye clinic should have dilated fundus photography at least once yearly, in a dedicated screening service, eg, Diabetic Eye Complications Service (DECS).

Other


  • Control of hyperglycaemia
  • Good hypertensive control
  • Smoking cessation

Referral to Ophthalmologist if:


  1. Severe non-proliferative retinopathy
  2. Proliferative retinopathy
  3. Maculopathy
